Dr. Tanya Joosten works with organizations globally as an advisor and consultant to identify, pilot, evaluate, implement, and scale innovations that enhance learning and working. Her approach integrates systems and structurational thinking with data, research, and practice, centering individuals’ goals, experiences, and identities to guide strategy and decision making.
Her recent advisory and strategic consulting work includes informing institutional strategy and product development related to AI-driven tools and applications. Dr. Joosten is widely recognized for her research design and instrumentation development, as well as her leadership of national and international research agendas and studies, including the DETA Research Toolkit.

Dr. Joosten brings a strong understanding of national trends and policy through her partners, professional networks, and communities of practice. She provides insight to support institutional planning, readiness, and implementation across current initiatives such as digital learning opportunities, workforce development, microcredentialing, industry partnerships, faculty development, instructional improvement, learner support services, and learning experience design and development. Her work has contributed to national reports and guidance on building sustainable and future-ready institutions.

Her consulting and advisory services include grant consultation to support funding acquisition, process improvement, and project alignment; expert review of research reports, policy papers, and product strategies; and vendor and partnership advising focused on market alignment, education technology partnerships, and adoption strategies.
Dr. Joosten advises institutions, organizations, and industry leaders on best practices, policy, and emerging technologies through invited speaking and panel engagements, advisory roles with national organizations and technology partners, professional development and training programs ranging from small teams to large-scale initiatives, and international research projects designing studies and instrumentation for global education efforts.
Her research focuses on equity, access, and student success in digital learning, with particular attention to the role of AI in learning equity, barriers to engagement and retention, and inclusive, data-informed institutional strategy.
Dr. Joosten’s work is grounded in collaboration and referral-based partnerships. She works with organizations seeking expertise in AI and digital transformation, product and workforce learning strategy, research design and large-scale studies, institutional strategy and faculty development, data analytics and education policy, and equity, access, and student success.
